Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Capitol to advocate for more just public policy and build important relationships with Arizona legislators. Below are photos and resources from the day.
Schedule:
9:30-10:00 Gather & Check-in 10:00-10:15 Welcome from Rev. Lisa and Greetings from Rev. Jan Christian, founder of UUDATL in AZ! 10:15-10:30 Logistics, schedule, committees, details (Anne Schneider) 10:30-11:00 Legislative District Caucuses – Meet with your LD Captain or register for “request to speak” 11:00- 1:30 Appointments with legislators (will vary) UUJAZ Workshops-on-the-Fly 11:00-11:20 Diane Post – Equal Rights Amendment 11:30-11:50 UUJAZ Education Action Team 12:00-12:20 Anne Schneider - 12:30-12:50 UUJAZ Immigration Action Team 1:00- 1:20 UUJAZ Water Action Team 11:00- 1:15 Lunch available from visiting food trucks (vegetarian and vegan options available) Mediterranean Majik and JJ's Barbecue *In support of our food trucks, who make the trip especially for us, please consider posting a review on yelp or trip advisor. Meeting Place: The House Lawn - you will be able to see our banner from the main parking lot! There is additional free parking behind (to the West of) the Capitol Building.
Bring a folding chair or lawn chair to sit on. There are no seats on the House Lawn, only grass!
Food Drive Info:
We will be collecting travel-sized food donations for Somos America, a 509a2 not-for-profit organization providing aid to asylum seekers traveling through the Phoenix Bus Depot. Below is a list of their current immediate needs, so please focus your shopping on these items:
